What does it mean to surrender?
I asked the Summer Sun
but she told me:
wait for Autumn.
When I arrived at Autumn’s home
the doormat stated:
Stay Just for a Moment.
I lingered in the crackle of leaves
that once clung to branches
now laying peacefully on the ground.
Sipping a tea that steamed
with the wispy wind
of Winter’s pending arrival,
I forgot what the world
had been shouting at me
what prompted me
to search for surrender.
And so – instead of asking again,
I simply laid my head back
let my hair go
not knowing for sure
much of anything
and sighed.
