It’s Summer and I’m Seventeen

I’m in a crop top

at the street stop

and I notice you

looking at me.

You’re sipping pop

under convertible top

and you just honked

your horn loudly.

I’m seventeen

and in my mind

is a world of

unmet needs.

But you notice me

and my body

which feels like

Love to me.

My daddy keeps saying

I’m a sinner in what I do —

what I say, how I don’t pray—

so can I sin with you?

I’m in a crop top

at a street stop

and I notice you

looking at me.

And the world I’ve built

inside of me

wonders if you can fill

what’s so empty.

Cos I’m noticing how

you’re noticing now

and all this sinner wants

is to just be seen.
