I’m going on a field trip
to that place deep in my mind.
It’s dark in there and its terrain
is of the slippery sloping kind.
I have bundled up in extra socks
and mittens woolly paired
for I just don’t know what to expect
and I’d like to be prepared.
No one’s ever been there —
and my exes all agree–
that it must be complicated,
since it hides what they can’t see.
The wilderness, it beckons me
and I set off to the unknown.
I’m determined by adventure,
I prefer to walk alone.
So I’m going on a field trip,
when I’ll be back I cannot say.
I’m going on a field trip —
and I’m doing it my way.
