Samantha has passion. You know the type: the one who loves to love. Her heart is big and her laughter is pure magic– once she starts laughing, you’ll be naturally laughing, too. I am honored to share her piece here:

I started writing this song in November 2016 as the weather was shifting from fall into winter and my life was really up in the air in all aspects. I had been single for a really long time, had just left a job that I expected to love, but ended up hating, and I was considering moving and making a lot of changes. I had no idea where my life was going. There was great freedom in that as well as fear. I was reflecting on having felt alone and ungrounded for many years, only feeling safe or at home when driving my car by myself, both literally and figuratively. Nowhere felt like home. That’s where I was for a long time, but I was starting to feel ready for my next step and knew that when the time was right, things would click into place.
.
This song touches on the frustration, the excitement and the longing of that final stretch before you reach the light at the end of the tunnel. We can go throughout our days and the love of our life might be right there- you know, the next town over or down the street, or has only lived an hour away from you your entire life, or you’ve both been in all the same places at different times. And when I say the love of your life that can be taken to mean many different things; the right person, the right job, the home or neighborhood you end up loving to live in. Sometimes we just need the time to grow and learn first before reaching that destination. I had a feeling I was SO close to someone special and I wanted him to know that when the time came, I was going to love him so much.
.
Two months later I met him.
.
He was at my debut performance of the song at The Bitter End in NYC. Intuition, gut feeling or whatever you want to call it tends to be on point, so whatever yours is saying, listen. You may feel like you are slogging with miles to go, but it may not be as many miles as you think.

On This Road
(Original Song By Samantha Murphy)
Windows down, fresh breeze flowin
On this road, who knows where I’m goin’
Sick of driving on my own
Change is comin’ feel it in my soul
I don’t know who you are
But we’re stuck in traffic driving separate cars
Someday soon when we collide
I can tell you what I felt tonight
Honey I’m gonna love you with all my heart
When the time is right we’ll start
But for now we’ve got miles to go
On this road
Wish you could tell me where you are now
Is it in New York City or right downtown
How much waiting is it gonna be
Until the day you come home to me
Honey I’m gonna love you with all my heart
When the time is right we’ll start
But for now we’ve got miles to go
On this road
All I see in front of me’s a long and empty road
Oh how much farther do i need to go
And i don’t know how much longer i can do this on my own
Forever searching for a way back home
Honey I’m gonna love you with all my heart
When the time is right we’ll start
But for now we’ve got miles to go
On this road
On this road
On this road
